5 Tips for Painting with Plants

This week I was Painting with Plants with colleagues at the Woodland Trust.  It’s an exciting time to discover the colours of nature.  I’ve added some top tips below so you can have a go.

Nature Inspired

As the ferns are uncurling, this is the time of year which I love the most. Everything awakening, a festival of colour in every direction you walk. I’ve been making the most of the sunshine, sketching in the landscape. Whilst on my walk I discovered these beautiful Early Purple Orchids, amongst Bluebells, Primroses and a…

Sketching in the Brecon Beacons

Pen-Y-Fan in the Brecon Beacons Into the mountains I went, to stretch my legs, connect with nature and sketch what I could see.  I was graced by the beautiful weather and on the first evening I heard the curlews calling me. They take me back to an ancient time, it feels like a sound from…

Sunshine to a flower…

On a wander around the garden this evening, this snakeshead fritillary, with its beautiful pattern, caught my eye in the evening light. “Surround yourself with people who make you laugh. I was able to see some of the highest peaks in Cumbria,…

Nature’s Time…

On my wander today spring was in the air. The lambs were racing each other along the banks and I discovered my first wood anemones. They were tucked up in an old hedge making the most of the sunshine.   Hello they said as they caught my eye, pulling me closer to inspect their fine…

Sketching & LandArt

Just as my Moon Boots thought their time was up for another year, they were on and we were out ready to create, whatever the weather. The vibrant sulphur- yellow of the Witch Hazel caught my eye against the snow as I wandered by. I could feel their excitement as I took the time to…

Spring is here!

Out on my nature walk today, the exciting burst of colour captivated me. The carpet of vivid purple crocuses were a treat to see, with their bright yellow stamens pointing up to the sky. You can’t miss them as they wave back and forth in the breeze, as the sun shines it’s spotlight onto them….
