Nature’s Lanterns

Nature’s Lantern – Bramble Leaf (copyright Katherine Owen)

Inspired by Nature Photography Exhibition is showing at Made in the Marches Gallery in Kington, Herefordshire until the end of September 2018. The exhibition will allow you a view into my creative world, capturing magic moments in time when the natural light and nature come together. It transports you into a borrower’s macro, close-up world, connecting you with nature.

My special way of capturing nature has taken me on a long journey of finding a unique way to share these nature’s lanterns. I first thought about creating an actual light-box to bring light behind them, until recently I realised they light themselves.

Presentation is everything to me and this exhibition is produced to the highest quality, to go with these unique and special windows into a world of nature.  They are printed on fine art Giclee dapple art paper, with archival pigments which are guaranteed for 100 years. Each piece of art is framed in Ash wood by a master framer, which has been stained dark brown to give an impression of a light-box. They sit behind non-reflective glass to ensure the nature you see is enhanced in the best way possible. So when it sits on your wall, you will know you are looking at a piece of art which time and quality have been thought of at each stage, and will last your lifetime. They come with a certificate of authenticity on the back of each fine piece.

I hope you have an opportunity to visit and see the exhibition and all the amazing art in this special gallery on the Marches.  At home on my wall , the nature’s lanterns you see above are the colours I choose to look at; they brighten my day whatever is happening. In time, I would love these photographs to appear in places where they can make a difference to those who may not be well enough to see nature outdoors. But if they inspire you to take a closer look at nature when you are out on a walk, it will have connected with you in some way. That would make me very happy indeed.

This exhibition being placed in a gallery is one of my lifetime ambitions. So as you can imagine, I’m super pleased I made it happen.

I would like to leave you with this quote, which has helped me in so many ways in my life so far…

“Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace and power in it.”

-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe –

So if you have something you want to achieve, take a leaf out of my book and make it happen.
