I am an Environmental Artist creating outdoors in nature. I walk through the landscape capturing an essence of where I am, connecting with nature around me.
Inspired by the weather, the elements become part of my work. You can find me out in the rain creating with raindrops as they fall, catching Snowflakes on my page, wrapped up in minus temperatures seeing if the fern- frost wants to paint across my page, or handing out art materials to trees for them to create in the breeze.
I find it so exhilarating to create in this way. As nature creates its own narrative, leaving its mark on the page, we see it in a different way.
Connecting with nature is part of the experience for me, as I take a moment to sketch what I see. Often using a variety of creative methods for my work, I’m responding to the moment, sketching, printing, to capturing macro images of the tiniest plants to film of moving leaves.
Our natural environment is important to me and I work full-time in the conservation sector across the UK. I have 20 years experience working on amazing projects, with citizen scientists mapping Ancient Trees across the UK, to restoring ancient woodlands.
